Ingredients
- 32 ounces 100 percent ground sirloin
- 12 strips bacon
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 4 kaiser egg buns
- 1 recipe Blue Cheese Spread, recipe follows
- 1 recipe Sauteed Mushrooms, recipe follows
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 4 tomato slices
- 4 red onion slices
Blue Cheese Spread
- 1 1/4 cups crumbled blue cheese
- 3/4 cup sour cream
Sauteed Mushrooms
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 8 ounces sliced mushrooms
- 2 ounces white wine
Instructions
- Shape the ground sirloin into 4 (8-ounce) patties. Grill each burger over an open flame to your preferred doneness. While the patties are cooking, prepare the bacon until it reaches your desired crispness, then set aside.
- Spread butter on both sides of each bun and grill until golden and toasted. On each of the 4 bottom buns, layer the burger, blue cheese spread, mushrooms, and bacon, in that sequence. On each of the top 4 buns, arrange the lettuce, tomato, and red onion, in that order. Add any extra condiments you like, close the sandwich, and serve immediately.
Blue Cheese Spread Instructions
- Mix both ingredients in a bowl and chill for 2 hours before using.
Sauteed Mushrooms Instructions
- Melt butter in a large saute pan over medium heat. Stir in garlic and mushrooms, cooking until softened. Pour in wine and simmer for 1 minute or until most of the liquid has evaporated. Remove from heat and set aside until ready to assemble.
