French Dip Recipe

- 4 tablespoons garlic powder
- 4 tablespoons salt
- 4 tablespoons ground black pepper
- 3 1/2 pounds beef roast
- 10 hoagie rolls, for serving

- Heat oven to 400F.
- In a roasting pan, spread the garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Place the beef roast on top and roll it to coat evenly, making sure to sprinkle seasoning over the top as well. Roast uncovered for 1 hour.
- Lower oven temperature to 350F.
- Pour 1 1/2 gallons of water into the pan and cover with aluminum foil.
- Continue roasting for 3 more hours. Allow the roast to cool, then slice thinly. Reserve the cooking liquid to use as au jus.
- Slice hoagie rolls open and toast them lightly. Place about 4 ounces of sliced beef on the bottom half of each roll, then cover with the top half. Serve each sandwich with 4 ounces of au jus in small bowls for dipping.
