This Asian-inspired stir-fry is one of our fastest family meals for busy weeknightsperfect for sparking joy at the table! Ryan loves pork, and slicing the tenderloin super thin makes it cook lightning-fast. Whip up the DIY chile oil for a spicy kick that grown-ups crave, or skip it to keep things kid-friendly.

Pork Marinade:

  • 2 tablespoons neutral oil (I use avocado oil)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic, grated
  • 1 orange, zested, plus 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • One 12-ounce pork tenderloin, silver skin removed, sliced crosswise 1/8-inch thick

Spicy Garlic Sesame Oil:

  • 1/4 cup neutral oil (I use avocado oil)
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 Thai red or Fresno chile, thinly sliced
  • One 1-inch piece fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 shallot, minced

Stir-Fry:

  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, stemmed, seeded and thinly sliced

  1. For the pork marinade: In a medium bowl, combine the neutral oil, soy sauce, light brown sugar, ginger, garlic, orange zest and juice, mixing well until fully blended. Add the pork slices and toss gently to coat them evenly on all sides.
  2. Cover the bowl and refrigerate to marinate for a minimum of 30 minutes, or ideally up to 4 hours for deeper flavor infusion.
  3. For the spicy garlic sesame oil: In a small skillet, combine the neutral oil, sesame oil, sesame seeds, soy sauce, rice vinegar, granulated sugar, garlic, red chile, ginger and shallot.
  4. Warm the mixture over medium-low heat until it becomes aromatic and starts to sizzle gently, around 3 minutes. Transfer to a bowl and allow it to cool slightly so the flavors can infuse properly.
  5. For the stir-fry: Let the marinated pork sit out to reach room temperature, about 10 minutes. Gently pat it dry using paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the orange juice, soy sauce, ginger and garlic until well incorporated. Set this mixture aside for later.
  7. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat with the neutral oil until it shimmers and is hot. Add the pork slices and cook until they turn golden brown and are fully cooked, about 3 to 4 minutes on each side. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
  8. Add the sliced onion to the same skillet and cook until it softens and becomes tender, roughly 3 minutes. Pour in 1/4 cup water to deglaze, scraping up the flavorful browned bits from the pan bottom. Stir in the red bell pepper slices and cook for about 1 minute more.
  9. Incorporate the broccoli slaw, red cabbage and julienned carrots. Saut until the vegetables are crisp-tender, an additional 3 to 4 minutes, then pour over the reserved soy sauce mixture. Toss everything thoroughly to coat evenly and season with kosher salt to taste.
  10. Return the cooked pork to the skillet and continue cooking just long enough for the sauce to thicken slightly and the flavors to blend together, about 1 to 2 minutes.
  11. Serve the stir-fry hot alongside cooked white rice, finished with a drizzle of the prepared spicy sesame oil for extra zest.
