Ingredients for the Meatloaf:

  • 1 cup milk
  • 6 slices of bread
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt, like Lawry's
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup minced flat-leaf parsley
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 8 to 12 thin slices of bacon

Tomato Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 6 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • A couple dashes of hot sauce (adjust according to your preference)
  • A couple dashes of Worcestershire sauce

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350F (175C).
  2. Pour the milk over the bread slices and let them soak it up for a few minutes. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, soaked bread, Parmesan, salt, black pepper, seasoned salt, and parsley. Stir in the beaten eggs and combine everything with your hands for the perfect texture.
  3. Form the mixture into a loaf and place it on a foil-lined broiler pan to let excess fat drain away as it bakes.
  4. Layer the bacon slices over the top, tucking the ends underneath to hold it all together.
  5. Whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, dry mustard, hot sauce, and Worcestershire sauce for a irresistible glaze. Brush one-third over the meatloaf.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes, add another third of the sauce, then bake 20-25 minutes more until juicy and fully cooked. Rest 10 minutes before slicingthis step locks in the flavors!
