Ingredients
- 4 slices thick-cut bacon, roughly chopped
- 1 medium onion, diced
- Two 15-ounce cans of Great Northern, navy, cannellini, or white beans
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- 1/3 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350F (175C).
- Place the bacon in a large, cold skillet and cook over medium heat until most of the fat is rendered and the bacon is nearly crisp, about 8 minutes. Add the chopped onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, roughly 5 minutes.
- Add one can of beans along with their liquid to the skillet. Drain and rinse the second can of beans, then add them to the skillet as well. Mix in ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and pepper to taste. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- Transfer the bean mixture to a small baking dish without covering. Bake until the sauce thickens and bubbles, approximately 50 minutes. Serve hot and watch the magic happen!
