Ingredients
- 6 tablespoons loose tea (examples: rooibos-based chai, genmai cha, Earl Grey, or jasmine green)
- 1 750 ml bottle vodka
- 1 cup honey or sugar
- 1 cup water (for the syrup)
Instructions
- Place the loose tea in a 1quart container with a tight-fitting lid and pour in the vodka so the tea is fully submerged; seal and gently shake to mix.
- Let the mixture infuse up to 10 hours, tasting after a few hours and stopping when it reaches your preferred strength.
- While the tea steeps, make a syrup: combine 1 cup water and 1 cup honey (or 1 cup sugar) in a medium saucepan; warm over medium-low, stirring until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is clear; remove from heat and cool completely.
- Strain the infused vodka through a coffee filter, discarding the solids.
- Mix the strained infusion with the cooled syrup, stirring or shaking until well blended; store in a sealed glass container. Chill if desired or serve at room temperature.
- This recipe yields about 5 cups it makes a thoughtful gift when bottled decoratively.
