Ingredients
- 1 orange
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 pint fresh strawberries
- 4 ounces rum, optional
Instructions
- Using a vegetable peeler or zester, carefully take off the orange zest, making sure to avoid the white pith.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, whisk together the sugar, water, and orange zest. Let the mixture simmer briefly then remove it from the heat to cool to room temperature.
- Set aside 4 strawberries for garnish. Hull and roughly chop the remaining strawberries. Combine these chopped strawberries with the orange juice in a blender, then add ice. Pour in the cooled orange syrup and blend until smooth. If you like, include the rum and blend again. Serve in glasses garnished with the reserved strawberries.
