Ingredients
- 3/4 oz. Maker's Mark Bourbon or comparable high-quality bourbon
- 3/4 oz. freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/2 oz. fresh orange juice
- 3/4 oz. simple syrup (instructions below)
- Chilled Champagne or alternative dry sparkling wine
- Lemon peel twist, for garnish
Directions
- Add bourbon, lemon juice, orange juice, and simple syrup into a cocktail shaker with 6 ice cubes. Shake vigorously for 10 seconds.
- Strain the mixture into a wine glass, then top off with sparkling wine. Garnish with a twist of lemon.
How to Make Simple Syrup
- Combine 1 cup granulated sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan. Heat over high, bringing the mixture to a boil. Stir until sugar is fully dissolved, about 1 minute.
- Remove from heat immediately. Pour into a storage container with a tight lid and refrigerate until cool, about 60 minutes.
