- Barbecue Sauce, recipe below
Gorgonzola Cheese Sauce:
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chicken stock
- 1/4 cup white wine
- 1 cup crumbled Gorgonzola cheese
Barbecue Sauce:
- 1 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon molasses
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Instructions:
- Fire up the grill and mix 3 pounds ground chuck with Cajun hot sauce in a large bowl until fully combined. Form into 4 epic burger patties, cover, and chill for 1 hour to let flavors meld.
- Heat your charcoal grill to medium-high. When coals are white-hot, scatter soaked hickory chips over them for that irresistible smoky aroma. Grill burgers, flipping once, to your perfect doneness.
- Toast those muffaletta buns on the grill while burgers cook. Stack each patty high with crispy maple bacon and a luscious drizzle of Gorgonzola Cheese Sauce. Skewer, quarter, and serve with Barbecue Sauce on the side for dipping glory!
Gorgonzola Cheese Sauce Preparation:
- Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Whisk in 2 tablespoons flour to make a smooth roux, cooking until the raw flour smell vanishes, about 2 minutes.
- Pour in 1 cup heavy cream, 1/2 cup chicken stock, and 1/4 cup white wine. Whisk constantly as it simmers and thickens, about 5 minutes. Stir in 1 cup crumbled Gorgonzola until melted and velvetyserve hot!
Barbecue Sauce Preparation: (Yields approximately 2 1/2 cups)
- Whisk all ingredients together in a medium saucepan until smooth.
- Simmer gently over low heat for 5-10 minutes until thickened to perfection. Get ready for bold, tangy flavor that elevates every bite!
