- 12 fresh rosemary leaves, plus a fresh sprig, for garnish (optional)
- 2 thin slices cucumber, plus more very thin slices, for garnish
- 2 ounces English-style gin
- 3/4 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1/4 ounce Simple Syrup, recipe follows
Simple Syrup:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water

- Muddle the rosemary leaves and 2 cucumber slices in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice, then add the gin, lime juice and Simple Syrup. Shake well.
- Double strain into a chilled cocktail glass (see Cook's Note). Float a thin cucumber slice on top of the drink and serve it with a rosemary sprig, if desired.
Simple Syrup:
Yield: 1 cup
- Combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Cook, stirring, until the sugar dissolves. Remove from the heat and let cool completely. Keep covered in the refrigerator up to 1 month.
To double-strain a cocktail, first strain through the strainer on the cocktail shaker, then strain through a fine-mesh strainer.
