Gently push each X down to create perfect holes for holding your cones uprightgenius for mess-free freezing!
- In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the chocolate, vegetable shortening, and a pinch of salt. Stir smoothly with a rubber spatula for about 4 minutes until silky. Pour into a bowl and mix in the peppermint extract for that refreshing kick.
- Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the melted chocolate into each sugar cone, swirling to coat the inside completely. Return any extra to the bowl. Pop the coated cones into your holder and let them set at room temperature for 15 minutesyour waterproof barrier is ready!
- Pack each cone brimful with mint chocolate chip ice cream, then top with an extra 1/3-cup scoop for indulgence. Back into the holder and freeze for 30 minutes until firm and irresistible.
- Set up your toppings in a bowl. If the chocolate thickens, reheat in the microwave in 10-second bursts, stirring until pourable. Dip each top scoop quickly into the chocolate, covering most but leaving some ice cream peeking out. Let excess drip, then roll in sprinkles or chipsmove fast before it sets!
- Serve these festive treats immediately for peak bliss, or keep them upright in the holder in the freezer. For up to two weeks of grab-and-go joy, wrap each in wax paper triangle and tape securely.
