Individual Potato Gratins
- Difficulty: Easy
- Servings: 4 to 6
- Total time: 55 minutes
- Preparation time: 15 minutes
- Cooking time: 40 minutes
Ingredients
- Vegetable cooking spray
- 2 large russet potatoes, roughly peeled and thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup Swiss cheese, grated
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375F (190C) for perfectly baked gratins.
- Lightly coat 8 muffin cups with vegetable spray. Layer thin potato slices with Swiss cheese and fresh green onions in each cup, creating beautiful alternating layers that will turn golden and crispy.
- Season generously with salt and pepper, then crown each gratin with 1 to 2 tablespoons of heavy cream for a luxurious, creamy texture.
- Cover the muffin tin snugly with foil and bake for 30 to 40 minutes. Halfway through cooking, remove the foil to allow the tops to develop a delicate crust.
- Once the potatoes are tender and the cream has reduced to a silky sauce, carefully invert each gratin onto your serving plate. The golden, caramelized edges make an elegant presentation.
