About the Sauce
Alabama white barbecue sauce is a creamy, tangy sauce made with a mayonnaise base that pairs beautifully with chicken, pulled pork, ribs, and more.
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 4 teaspoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon Louisiana-style hot sauce
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh thyme
- 3/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 garlic clove, grated
- Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
- 6 lbs chicken wings, split
- Chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Make the sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, thyme, onion powder, grated garlic, and 1 teaspoon each of salt and pepper. Cover and refrigerate at least 30 minutes or up to overnight to let flavors meld.
- Preheat the oven: Heat to 450F (230C).
- Prepare the wings: Place wings in a large bowl, season with salt and pepper, then pour 1 cup of the prepared sauce over the wings and toss to coat evenly.
- Roast: Arrange wings in a single layer on two rimmed baking sheets (split evenly). Roast, flipping once halfway through, until crispy and golden, about 3545 minutes.
- Serve: Move wings to a serving platter, drizzle with half of the remaining sauce, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and serve with the remaining sauce in a bowl on the side.
