Sunny's Candy Bar and Bacon Rolls
Level: Easy | Yield: 8 rolls | Total Time: 50 min | Active Time: 20 min
Ingredients
For the Rolls:
- All-purpose flour, for dusting
- 1 tube croissant dough (makes 8 individual croissants)
- 1 cup chopped chocolate candy bars (Snickers and/or Butterfinger preferred)
- 4 slices bacon, cooked until crisp and chopped
For the Topping:
- 1 tablespoon sour cream
- Water (as needed)
- Turbinado sugar, for sprinkling
- Flake salt, for sprinkling
Instructions
1. Prepare the oven: Heat to 350 degrees F.
2. Shape the dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the croissant dough and divide it into 4 rectangular sections, each with 2 attached triangles. Gently press the two triangles together along the diagonal perforation to seal them into one piece. Slice each rectangle into 2 squares, creating 8 total squares. Place them on a nonstick baking tray with sides.
3. Fill the rolls: In a medium bowl, combine the chopped candy bars and bacon. Place a heaping tablespoon of this mixture down the center of each dough square, leaving space at the edges so you can fold the uncovered dough over the filling.
4. Create the glaze: Mix sour cream with just enough water to achieve a glue-like consistency. Brush this mixture over each roll, then sprinkle with turbinado sugar and a pinch of flake salt.
5. Bake: Bake until the tops are golden brown, approximately 16 to 20 minutes. Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving.
