Ingredients
- 3 cups leftover macaroni and cheese
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 cup canola oil
Instructions
- Shape the leftover macaroni and cheese into 12 small, round balls.
- In a pie plate or shallow dish, whisk together the egg, water, and hot sauce. In another shallow dish, mix the flour, chili powder, salt, and freshly ground pepper to your preference.
- Heat the canola oil in a deep skillet over medium heat until it reaches 350F.
- Dip each macaroni and cheese ball into the egg mixture, then roll it thoroughly in the seasoned flour to coat evenly.
- Fry the coated balls in batches in the hot oil until they turn golden brown, about 4 minutes. Remove them from the oil and place on a plate lined with paper towels to drain.
- Transfer to a serving plate and enjoy them while still hot.
