  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • 1 small cabbage, coarsely chopped (about 6 cups)
  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 1 tablespoon caraway seeds (optional)

  • 4 strips center-cut bacon, diced
  • 8 ounces Irish lager beer such as Harp, or use reduced-sodium chicken stock
