Lemon Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
- 1 cup granulated sugar (total)
- Lemon zest (in place of orange)
- Classic Sugar Cookies dough base (without baking powder)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest (for rolling)
Directions
- Prepare Classic Sugar Cookies using 1 cup granulated sugar total, skipping confectioners' sugar and baking powder. Substitute lemon zest in place of orange.
- Refrigerate dough.
- Pulse 1/4 cup granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon lemon zest in a food processor until combined.
- Shape dough into two 1-inch-thick logs and roll in the lemon sugar mixture.
- Freeze logs for 20 minutes.
- Slice into 1-inch pieces.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes at 325 degrees until golden.
