  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cup espresso beans, crushed in a mortar and pestle
  • Ice cubes
  • 8 shots very cold coffee-flavored liqueur, optional
  • 8 shots very cold vodka, optional
  • 8 cups very cold club soda

  1. Imagine crafting a refreshing espresso fizz that sparks joy at your next gathering! Start by placing the sugar and 2 cups water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat and cook until the sugar fully dissolves, about 2 minutes. Remove from the heat, add the crushed espresso beans, and let the mixture sit at room temperature for 30 minutes to infuse bold flavor.
  2. Strain the syrup for smoothness, then cover and chill in the refrigerator until thoroughly cold, at least 2 hourspatience rewards with icy perfection!
  3. Fill 8 tall glasses with ice. Pour about 1/4 cup of the chilled espresso syrup into each. If desired, add a shot of vodka and coffee liqueur to each glass, stirring gently to combine. Top off with club soda for a fizzy, invigorating finish that'll have everyone reaching for more.
