Butter-Infused Bourbon and Bourbon-Infused Butter
Ingredients:
- One 750-milliliter bottle good-quality bourbon
- 2 sticks (16 tablespoons) unsalted butter
Yield: about 3 cups of bourbon and 12 tablespoons butter
Instructions:
- Place the Butter-Infused Bourbon, vermouth, and bitters into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Stir for about 30 seconds, then strain the mixture into a chilled glass. The drink can be served straight up or over ice. Finish with a garnish of orange zest and a cherry.
- Combine the bourbon and butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the butter is fully melted. Pour the mixture into a container and place it in the freezer until the butter solidifies. Remove the large piece of bourbon-infused butter and store it in the refrigerator in an airtight container for use in cooking. Strain the bourbon through a fine-mesh sieve and a coffee filter to eliminate any remaining butter particles. Pour the strained, butter-infused bourbon back into its original bottle and keep it frozen for use in cocktails for up to one month.
