- 2 oz lime green candy melts, melted
- 8 white round candy melts
- 3 oz black candy melts, melted
- 2 oz grey candy melts, melted
- 2 oz red candy melts, melted
- Two 3-oz lime green candy tablets
- Two 3-oz white candy tablets
- Two 3-oz purple candy tablets
- 2 tbsp candy bug sprinkles
- 2 tbsp candy bat sprinkles
- 2 tbsp candy bone sprinkles
- 3 black-and-white striped hard candy sticks, broken into 2-inch segments
- 1/4 cup assorted green and purple sprinkles
Special Tools: toothpicks, 4 disposable piping bags, silicone tombstone candy mold, small offset spatula
- Heat the oven to 250F. Prepare a baking sheet 11x17 inches or bigger by lining it with a silicone mat or parchment paper; set aside.
- To create Beetlejuice's face: On a separate baking sheet lined with parchment, put melted lime green candy in a small piping bag and snip a tiny hole. Pipe four quarter-sized mounds, spaced apart. Quickly, use a toothpick to drag out three sides into jagged spikes to mimic hair. Then place a whole white candy wafer on top as the face.
- Put melted black candy into another piping bag with a small hole and pipe two triangular furrowed eye shapes on each white wafer.
- For Lydia Deetz's face: Pipe four dime-sized black candy mounds spaced apart. Immediately pull them into pointed spikes with a toothpick. Add a tiny black candy dot beneath each mound and top each with a white candy wafer. Pipe 4 to 6 black lines on the wafer to simulate Lydia's spiky bangs. Finally, pipe two black eyes just below the bangs.
- Chill this sheet in the refrigerator about 15 minutes to set the faces.
- To make tombstones: Fill a piping bag with melted grey candy and pipe into a silicone tombstone mold. Tap gently to level and remove air bubbles. Freeze until firm, about 7 minutes. Carefully unmold onto parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Pipe a red arrow pointing downward in the center of each tombstone using red melted candy in a piping bag with a very fine hole. Refrigerate for 5 minutes to set.
- For the bark base: Arrange lines of lime green, white, and purple candy tablets vertically, side-by-side on the prepared baking sheet. Bake 3 to 5 minutes until melted and shiny but not fully losing shape. Take out and lightly tap the pan to level the candy.
- Quickly use a small offset spatula to drag in a zigzag pattern through the melted candy creating a marbled effect. Tap again gently, if needed.
- Sprinkle bug, bat, and bone candy sprinkles generously, arranging broken striped candy stick pieces on top. Let cool for 2 minutes, then place the character faces and tombstones on the bark. Scatter on the green and purple sprinkles. Chill in refrigerator for 15 minutes until fully firm and rigid.
- Remove from refrigerator and carefully lift the bark from the silicone mat or parchment. Break into chunks. Keep in an airtight container at room temperature, or wrap pieces in cellophane bags with black ribbon to gift or hand out as a Halloween treat.
If candy tablets aren't available, substitute with 6 ounces each of lime green, white, and purple candy melts. Line them side by side on the baking pan to form a roughly 9x13 inch rectangle.
