- 10 apples, peeled, cored, and diced into 1-inch pieces (Jonathan, Honey Crisp, Red Rome, or Gala varieties work well)
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 sheet of store-bought pie dough
- 1 large egg, beaten
