Tarta La Bouie with Grilled Apples

Crust Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) salted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg plus 1 large egg yolk
- 1 tablespoon whole milk
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- Pinch of kosher salt
Filling Ingredients:
- 3 cups half-and-half
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon zest
- Seeds from 1 vanilla bean
- Pinch of kosher salt
Apples:
- 2 apples, cut into quarters
- 3 tablespoons salted butter, melted
- 1 heaping teaspoon light brown sugar
Topping:
- Honey, for drizzling
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar, for dusting

- Prepare the crust: In a stand mixer, cream softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg, egg yolk, milk, and vanilla; beat until fully combined and smooth.
- Combine dry ingredients: Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually mix into the wet ingredients in two additions until the dough pulls away from the bowl sides.
