For the Pizza
- One large (about 2 feet) French bread loaf, cut lengthwise
- 1/4 cup garlic and herb butter, melted
- 4 cups of Sunny's 5-Ingredient Chili (recipe below)
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, freshly grated
- 1 cup sharp Cheddar cheese, freshly grated
- 16 rounds of fresh jalapeo (from 1 to 2 peppers)
For Garnish
- 2 scallions, sliced on an angle
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- Your favorite hot sauce to finish
- Mexican crema, for drizzling on top
Sunny's 5-Ingredient Chili
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 to 3 tbsp chili powder
- 2 1/2 lbs ground beef (chuck)
- Two 10-ounce cans diced tomatoes with green chilies
- One 16-ounce can of beans (black, pinto, or kidney), drained
Method
- For the Pizza: Fire up your oven to 400F (205C) and get ready for cheesy, chili-loaded magic.
- Scoop out some of the inside from each bread half, leaving about 1 inch around the base. Brush the interiors and crust edges with the melted garlic butter. Set both bread halves on a baking tray. Bake until the edges are a golden brown, about 10 minutes. Remove from ovenyour base is now irresistibly crisp!
- Spread the prepared chili evenly across the length of the bread halves. Sprinkle the grated cheeses on top. Place the jalapeo slices so there's one on each piece. Bake until cheese is melted and bubbling, and bread's edges are extra crisp and golden, about 15-18 minutes. The aroma alone will have everyone hovering!

How to Make Sunny's 5-Ingredient Chili

- In a large pot over medium heat, add 2 tablespoons olive oil (or other cooking oil), 2 1/2 teaspoons salt, a few generous twists of black pepper, and the chopped onion. Saut until the onion softens and fills your kitchen with warmth.
- Mix in the chili powder and ground beef. Cook until the beef is crumbled and thoroughly cookedpure comfort in the making.
