Ingredients

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice (refer to Cook's Note)
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

Directions

  1. Mix the rice, salt, and 1 1/2 cups of water in a small saucepan and bring it to a boil. After boiling, lower the heat, cover, and simmer until all the liquid is absorbed, about 18 minutes. Take the pot off the heat and let it rest, covered, for 10 minutes. Before serving, fluff the rice gently with a fork.

For basmati rice, soak it in cool water for 30 minutes, then drain before beginning the recipe.
