Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups fresh orange juice (from about 5 to 6 oranges)
  • Zest from 1 orange
  • 1 cup half-and-half
  • 1 cup superfine sugar
  • 1 bottle sparkling wine or Champagne
  • Strawberries, for garnish

You may also use non-alcoholic sparkling wine, sparkling cider, or ginger ale as alternatives.

Instructions

  1. Combine the orange juice, orange zest, half-and-half, and sugar in a blender and blend until the sugar is fully dissolved, about 30 seconds. Pour this mixture into a shallow dish and freeze for roughly 4 hours or overnight until solid.
  2. Remove the frozen orange mixture and let it soften for about 10 minutes. Using a scoop or spoon, place a small amount into a Champagne flute, then slowly top with sparkling wine or Champagne. Garnish with fresh strawberries and serve immediately for a refreshing, elegant brunch drink that's sure to impress.
