Ingredients
- 1 slice of your preferred bread
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 egg
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Use a biscuit cutter or the edge of a glass to cut a circular hole in the middle of the bread slice.
- Warm a skillet over medium-low heat and melt the butter evenly. Once melted, lay the bread in the pan and carefully crack the egg into the hole.
- Cook until the egg begins to set on the bottom (about 30-45 seconds). Season with salt and pepper. After about a minute, flip the bread and egg with a spatula, then season the other side.
- Gently move the toast around the skillet to soak up the butter. Continue cooking until the yolk is soft and tender. Aim for golden-brown toast, fully set egg whites, and an intact, runny yolk.
