Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh cranberries, rinsed and dried
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 orange, zested and juiced

Directions

  1. In a medium-sized pot, combine the cranberries, sugar, and water; stir and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Reduce heat to a simmer, add the cinnamon stick, ground allspice, and nutmeg, and simmer for 5 to 7 minutes until some berries pop and others remain whole.
  3. Stir in the orange juice and zest, remove from heat, and let the sauce cool before serving.
