Elevate classic beef sliders by serving them on sweet Hawaiian bunsan option both children and adults will adore. For a tropical twist, top the sliders with thinly sliced grilled pineapple.
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
- Kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper
- Vegetable oil, for greasing grill grates
- 3 slices cheddar cheese, quartered
- 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls (like King's Hawaiian), halved
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon classic yellow mustard
- 12 small pieces romaine or iceberg lettuce (trimmed to fit rolls)
- 12 dill pickle chips or bread-and-butter pickles
Directions
- Heat a grill or grill pan to medium-high.
- Divide the ground beef into 12 even portions (about 2 ounces each). Form each into a patty about 1/2 inch thick and press a small dimple in the center with your thumb so they cook flat. Season both sides with salt and freshly ground pepper.
- Lightly brush the grill grates (or grill pan) with vegetable oil. Grill the patties about 2 to 3 minutes per side, turning once, until browned and just pink in the middle. Top each patty with a piece of cheddar and cook about 1 more minute, until the cheese melts.
- Arrange the cut sweet rolls open-faced. Spread the bottoms with ketchup, mayonnaise, and mustard, then place a lettuce leaf on each. Add a beef patty, top with a pickle chip, and finish with the roll tops to assemble the sliders.
